1. Times of India : 3.5/5 by Rachit Gupta . Visit sitefor more

“Vishal Bhardwaj, as he always does with his films, has tried to put many quirky spins into this comedy. The music is rustic, but very pleasing. He has also provided an interesting background score. During the second half, as the film briefly explores a psychological reason for the sisters’ tendency to fight, the sci-fi sounding background music adds a delightful touch to the proceedings. But for all its wonderful and creative touches, Pataakha still feels like a story that stretches a short concept, for a little too long.”

2. Hindustan Times : 4/5 by Raja Sen . Visit sitefor more

“Pataakha is Vishal Bhardwaj’s adaptation of a short story by Charan Singh Pathik. In the beginning, it felt a bit flat to me. Too many Hindi films set in small towns and unfamiliar villages are now adept at milking dialect and surroundings for laughs, but Bhardwaj keeps things raw. The dialogues steer clear of predictable punchlines and we may not be used to films refusing to try too hard. Coming from a master director, this feels like a minor film — about two minors, daughters of a miner — till we get to see what these firecrackers are dreaming about.”

Pataakha Story:

“Badki (Radhika Madan) and Chhutki (Sanya Malhotra) live in a small town in Rajasthan. They are sisters who squabble about anything and everything from stolen bidis and clothes to broken phones and TV sets. Dipper (Sunil Grover) is their nosy neighbour, who is always on the lookout for an opportunity to make the sisters go to war, while their father (Vijay Raaz), a single parent, is always trying to make peace between the warring sisters.”
